I cowash my hair twice a week and once a month I do a full shampoo wash. It’s take me a long time to figure out what works with my hair. Since I’m mixed (Filipino mother & southern African-American father) my natural hair is curly but not tight curls and easily straightens with a medium heat flat iron. I did try going curly for a while, but I didn’t like the way it shaped around my face so I tend to typically just straighten my hair.

Every Sunday I cowash my hair with a deep conditioner. Currently I’m using Aussie 3-Minute Miracle Moist. My hair is a bit dry now, it use to be very oily, so I use conditioner that help to reestablish moisture in my follicles. Then either or Wednesday or Thursday I cowash my hair with just some regular conditioner like the Fructis Fortifying Conditioner.

I have this Rusk Deep Shine Color Sulfate-Free Shampoo for more than 3 months now since I only wash my hair with it once a month. Typically around the 15 if I remember. I just like to do a good cleaning of my hair since I do use some hair products (see below) and I’m at that gym 6 days a week.

After washing, I leave my hair to slightly dry in an old t-shirt before giving it a bit of hair oil and letting it air dry. I usually take about half an hour to dry so I do things while I wait like work on post and meal prep my food for the week. I like doing it that way so I don’t use too much heat on my hair since I’m already going to flat-iron it. I recently got a new flat iron, 1-inch: GEM Techno 410 Ceramic Science. It’s so lovely and far better than the drugstore one I brought around the same price. It got this one at TJ Maxx.

I really like this African’s Best Herbal Oil. It really help put back a lot of moisture in my hair, but it does have a strong scent that smells like baby oil. Because of that I don’t use it as a finishing touch. There I use the Fructis Sleek & Smooth when I need it. I found the herbal oil at Walmart, but you can also get it at Walgreens.
